Official Microsoft 365 login links
Always sign in through an official Microsoft address. Bookmark the one you use most and check the URL before you ever type your password, as fake login pages are a common phishing tactic. Microsoft 365 home (apps, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) is at office.com. Direct Microsoft account sign-in is at login.microsoftonline.com. Outlook on the web (email and calendar) is at outlook.office.com. Microsoft Teams (web) is at teams.microsoft.com. OneDrive for Business is at onedrive.com. SharePoint is at yourcompany.sharepoint.com. Microsoft 365 Admin Centre (admins only) is at admin.microsoft.com. Microsoft 365 security and password settings are at mysignins.microsoft.com.
How to log in to Microsoft 365 (step by step)
The sign-in process is the same whether you are on a work or personal account. It takes under a minute: open office.com and select Sign in; enter your full email address and select Next; type your password and select Sign in; approve the multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompt on your phone, or enter the code from your authenticator app; choose Yes on “Stay signed in?” only on a trusted, private device, and No on shared or public computers; you will land on the Microsoft 365 home page with quick access to Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive.
Tip: Work and school accounts use your business email address, not a personal Outlook or Hotmail address. If you are unsure which one to use, your IT provider or Microsoft 365 administrator can confirm it.
Logging in on the Microsoft 365 mobile app
For phones and tablets, install the Microsoft 365 (Office) app, or individual apps such as Outlook and Teams, from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap Sign in; enter your work email address and password; approve the MFA prompt (the Microsoft Authenticator app is the most secure and convenient method); and allow the app to register the device if your business uses Microsoft Intune for mobile device management.
Microsoft 365 login problems and how to fix them
Most failed Microsoft 365 logins come down to a handful of causes. Work through these before raising a ticket.
“Your account or password is incorrect”
Check for caps lock, a trailing space, or the wrong email domain. Reset your password at mysignins.microsoft.com if self-service password reset (SSPR) is enabled. If it is not, your administrator must reset it for you.
You are stuck in a sign-in loop
Clear your browser cache and cookies, or open an InPrivate/Incognito window. A stale authentication token is the usual culprit. On the desktop apps, signing out of all accounts and back in clears it.
MFA is not working or you have a new phone
If you have replaced your phone and lost the Authenticator app, you cannot approve sign-in prompts. An administrator needs to reset your MFA registration so you can set it up again on the new device. This is one of the most common after-hours calls we receive.
“Need admin approval” or access blocked by Conditional Access
Your organisation's security policies may block sign-in from certain locations, networks or unmanaged devices. This is intentional. Your administrator can review the Conditional Access policy and grant access if the request is legitimate.
Account locked or “sign-in attempts have been blocked”
Repeated failed attempts trigger a temporary lockout that protects you against brute-force attacks. Wait a few minutes, then try again with the correct password, or contact your IT team to unlock the account immediately.
Keep your Microsoft 365 login secure
A Microsoft 365 account is the front door to your email, files and finance approvals, which makes it a prime target. Aligning with the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Essential Eight, we recommend every business enforce multi-factor authentication on every account with no exceptions, use the Microsoft Authenticator app with number matching rather than SMS codes, apply Conditional Access to limit sign-in to trusted locations and compliant devices, turn on self-service password reset so staff can recover access without a help desk delay, and train staff to recognise phishing and to check the URL is a genuine Microsoft address before entering a password.

What is the difference between Office 365 and Microsoft 365 login? They are the same sign-in. Microsoft renamed Office 365 to Microsoft 365 in 2020, but the login pages, accounts and apps are identical. Old office.com bookmarks still work.

Why can't I log in to Microsoft 365 after getting a new phone? If your multi-factor authentication was tied to an Authenticator app on your old phone, you cannot approve the sign-in prompt. An administrator needs to reset your MFA registration so you can set it up again on the new device.
How do I log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre? Administrators sign in at admin.microsoft.com using an account that has admin privileges. Standard user accounts cannot access the Admin Centre.
Is it safe to choose “Stay signed in”? Only on a trusted, private device. On shared, public or borrowed computers, always choose No so your session does not stay open for the next person.
